The "Vanderbilt Children's Hospital" has been in operation since the 1970s, but was housed in the main Vanderbilt hospital.〔
Monroe J. The hospital opened in February 2004 with 238 inpatient beds, 16 operating rooms, 36 intensive care unit beds, and space for 104 premature infants in the neonatal intensive-care unit.〔 For 41 years, Vanderbilt Tri Delta and the Nashville alumnae chapter of Tri Delta have supported the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. Together they have donated over $3 million to The Tri Delta Pediatric Hematology Oncology Clinic, a highly specialized medical facility offering comprehensive treatment to children with cancer and blood diseases.
